Health awareness programmes have been periodically organized in order to create awareness among the public with regard to AIDS, Breast feeding, Diabetes, avoidance of drugs and alcohol and the dangers of smoking.
Road Accident prevention awareness photo exhibition is being conducted every year in Salem and neighboring districts of Dharmapuri and Namakkal since 1999. Photographs depicting poor roads, gruesome accidents, the agony of the victim, the plight of the relatives, disabilities and the aftermath are displayed apart from statistics of yearly accidents and the mortality for the state and the nation.
